My 1996 F150 4.9L I6 Manual Trans (Eddie Bauer) has this problem: After idling awhile I take it on the road and soon it just loses electrical and shuts down----but does a compression restart if it is moving. I have replaced the distributor cap & rotor, ignition coil, spark plugs, and EEC relay and the problem remains. Could it be the EEC-IV module itself?; Can the engine even run if the module is faulty? What is a quick check? Any suggestions of anything else it could be? Thanks for your input.:)

The very first thing to check is the battery and the charging system. Everything runs off that battery and the alternator keeps it all charged up.
