I have a '98 F150. The other day it wouldn't shift out of park. I had the brake shift interlock replaced and it worked fine for a day or so. Then it stopped working again. The brake light fuse was blown, so I replaced it. But the new fuse blew right away. It sounds like there is a short somewhere. Is there a way I can try to diagnose it? thanks.
Here is a wiring diagram for that. Also take a look at the brake switch itself and it's wiring. My daughter's Mustang had an issue with the wiring there.
i had a similar problem with my 95 f-150 and traced the problem to a short in my tow package wiring hookup, so you might check your trailer plug at the rear of the truck.
