Default Power steering noise

I just purchased a used 2000 f150 and when I turn either left or right you hear this noise and it's connected to the steering. Its not all the time like going straight but when you turn you here it for the part of the turn. I took it back to the ford dealer where I bought it and the tech went for a ride with me and he stated its normal for a ford. It's the fluid in the lines?.....

Well I am gettting tired of listening to it, but never noticed it when test driving.

I don't buy the answer it's normal for a ford? He said the mini vans do it all the time. If it was the pump I would hear it all the time.

Please help steer me in the right direction?

Welcome aboard! First things first...have you checked the power steering fluid? It should be a nice reddish color, anything else would mean contamination and that can mess with the system and wear out the bearing in the pump itself.
