Hello all

I am looking to buy a late model F150 and would like some advice.

I'm looking for a crew cab XLT with towing package to tow our 22 foot travel trailer (GVW 6400 lbs) and I can't decide between the 5.0 or the Ecoboost engine.

The Ecoboosts torque for towing sounds great, but I'm concerned about the engines longevity.

Do you think the 5.0 is adequate for towing?

Thanks

I just bought a 2012 screw with 5.0L. It is rated to tow over 8,000lbs. I believe the Eco will do a bit more. Others on the site know a lot more as I am just starting to research this.

There a A LOT of opinions on engines. Check out some of the threads here.

Enjoy the research, and your new truck.

2012 Ecoboost Owner

I have a 2012 F150 Ecoboost SCrew and a 5,000 lb travel trailer. In general I am pleased with the overall performance. Gas mileage is not what I expected, especially towing, but it is a very comfortable ride and I personally like the quietness of the engine vs. a V8 or diesel. I've pulled my trailer through the mountains on two trips and have not been disappointed with the torque. It pulls the trailer up steep grades at 60-65 mph in 4th or 5th gear with no problems. I previously had a 2009 GMC Yukon XL with a 5.0 L V8 and it struggled in the mountains with a trailer.

Here are some other posts I've recorded on my experiences with the F150 Eco so far.
