ABS light on after brake job

6246 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Mr Mac
After replacing the front rotors/pads on my 2004 F-150 Lariat the ABS light is on all the time. I've tried disconnecting the battery for 20+ minutes which didn't work and the computer is not giving out any codes. I would rather not take the vehicle into the shop because I have a lot of unexpected bills at the moment.

Is there anything I can look for around the wheels....maybe a sensor that is dirty or misaligned or something....to try and fix this myself? I didn't do much to it so I know it can't be that big of a deal.

Many different things can be causing this from low fluid level in the reservoir, to a wiring harness, speed sensors or ABS sensors at the wheels. I'd take a good look around the wheels you did the brakes on and check the sensors for correct mounting/connections and make sure no brake dust covered them up.
Thanks for the quick reply. I will try that. Anything in particular I need to use to clean those with?
I would go gently and use a soft cloth just dampened with water to start.
