AWD F-150's

First post and hope I've posted in the right forum.

A bit of recent vehicle history: Last two trucks have been Ford Rangers, both manuals and 2X4's (2.4L Reg. Cab & 4.0L Ext. Cab). Last two cars 2011 VW Tiguan 4Motion (current), previous 2007 Audi A4 2.0T quattro. Having had the AWD systems in these two cars have been just an excellent experience. I found out recently the F-150 also has an AWD version.

Very general questions first; which models have the AWD system? I believe, and stand to be corrected; the Harley Davidson, the Limited and Platinum versions have the AWD system as an option. Others?

Next general question; is Ford's AWD system comparable to either of the haldex and torsen differentials used by VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group)?

Prior to joining this forum I was surfing the net and fell upon a great thread discussing the AWD system on here, but for the life of me I can't find it now.

Your feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't remember any discussions on the AWD trucks on this forum, but then, I'm getting older and my memory ain't what it used to be! That said, I believe you are correct in the models that had AWD as an option.

As for the comparison between Ford's iteration of AWD and any other manufacturer, I have no clue so I'll leave that to someone who might.

I went fishing around again and found that thread I mentioned. It was another site, but with a very similar name and the reason I thought it was this forum. Here it is for the benefit of others >>> http://www.f150forum.com/f4/harley-davidson-awd-4wd-50588/ . Now just trying to digest what they are talking about.

Thanks!
