Garden of the Gods

Today I was sitting here with very little to do so I decided to drive a little bit and go see the Garden of the Gods just south of us here in So. Illinois. It is only 21 miles and the roads are predominately straight but it is a pretty countryside.

Once at the state park I wandered through the rocks and got the sense of being small.

If you look close enough you'll see people on those rocks!

Adds a whole new meaning to being between a rock and a hard place!

A good way to spend time!

Love that last picture! The gods must need a lot of gardens... ;)
Wow great pics, Wish I could take a quick drive and be somewhere just as nice.

What kind of camera?

Back when these photos were taken I was using a Nikon D70. Since then I have upgraded to a D300, and then a D3S. I still use the D70, along with the D300, and D3S.
Those are great Photo's. Nice place to relax in the summer.
I believe that's Pikes Peak, 14,110 elevation on the upper right on one of those photo's.

I live about 63 miles north of Colorado Springs on I-25.
When I was younger I use to ride Dirt Bikes on Rampart Range Rd.
I had a new 1991 4x4 XLT.
What Fun.
I use a Canon 7D with a 17-40 L & a 24-105 L lenses.
Love to take Photo's.

Yes, that's Pike's Peak. This is as far as I went:

My wife and kids made the trip to Pike's Peak last year (while I was working like a rented mule) and they loved it! I think a road trip is in order for me in the very near future!
What a shame, a lot of the 14'ers are privately owned. Mt. Lincoln by my cabin, they closed that road years ago due to insurance because of the Mines up there. You can 4 wheel to a gate & walk.
