Hello fellow gear head,
I need to have a question awnsered. I have a 98 f150 4x4 4.2L and i am looking to do a motor swap. The new motor is a 4.2L also but out of a 01 f150 everything apears to be the same except for the intake runner control box on the 98 it apears to have a vac powered ajuster where the 01 has a eletronic box to move the runners. So if you can tell me this. Can I just plug in the new motor or do I have to change the ajuster and the motor wireing harness???
any help would mean alot.
thanks
James
P.S.
Things tried so far
Pulled 2 motors
saw a diffrence
scrached head
got on computer

In looking at the wiring diagrams for both years, the '98 has two intake manifold runner positions and an intake manifold runner control unit and the '01 has a single unit leading me to believe that a change in the wiring harness as well as the PCM would be required as the '01 PCM has two more wire coming out of it over the '98.

thank you

Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it. It was not the easy plug and play answer I was hoping for but it is still better then having to pull the motor ack out.. thanks again
