Transmission issues

I have a 2010 F150 XLT with transmission issues. Sometimes while towing and when the truck is downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear, the shift goes in "hard". Ford says there is no problem because the computer doesn't display a code. Also, experiencing a "shuttering" feeling when the truck shift from 1st to 2nd gear. Again, Ford says there is no problem because there are no codes to indicate a problem.

I'm wondering if Ford mechanics know how to diagnose problems without a code.

I wonder that same thing myself at times. That said, a lot of Ford mechanic's hands are tied to the quickest diagnostic and then send the customer on their way.

I have heard of a lot of complaints about that year transmission and some chatter about Ford writing new code for it and uploading that code to alleviate some of these issues. You may want to sign in to the Ford Owner's site to see what they may have come up with and then, perhaps, to send a message to Ford asking them what the deal is.
